WEEE

The WEEE is the waste electrical and electronic equipment (EEE), i.e. waste all equipment that depends, for correct functioning, on electric currents or electromagnetic fields and equipment for the generation, transfer and measurement of these currents and fields.

WEEE belongs to one of the following categories:

  1. Large household appliances;
  2. Small appliances;
  3. IT and telecommunications equipment;
  4. Consumer equipment (cameras, video recorders, etc)
  5. Lighting equipment;
  6. Electrical and electronic instruments (with the exception of large stationary industrial machine tools);
  7. Toys and equipment for sports and leisure;
  8. Medical devices (except all implanted and infected products);
  9. Monitoring and control tools;
  10. Vending machines

 

The WEEE often contain toxic and polluting substances and their abandonment can therefore cause environmental pollution with effects also on human health.

Legislative Decree 49/2014 on waste electrical and electronic equipment.
This decree provides that all electrical and electronic devices that have reached the end of their life must not be included in the normal flow of municipal solid waste, but must follow a separate collection procedure, favoring the recovery and recycling of the materials they are made of.

The consumer will be able to deliver disused electrical and electronic equipment to the public collection service, take them to the appropriate municipal areas (ecological islands) or return them to retailers. All the main manufacturers are active in the creation and management of systems for the collection and disposal of discarded appliances.

In compliance with the provisions of Ministerial Decree 65/2010 art. 1 paragraph 1, and by Legislative Decree 49/2014, art. 11, paragraph 1, customers are informed that, at the time of supply of new electrical or electronic equipment (defined as EEE) intended for a household, it ensures the free collection of the old electrical or electronic equipment (defined as WEEE) having the same functionality .

It is specified that:

(I) the free collection of WEEE (1 for 1 dictated by Ministerial Decree no. 65/2010) takes place on the condition that it originates from a household, of a type equivalent, i.e. that it has performed the same functions as the new equipment purchased;

Example 1: upon purchasing a new ECG or a new ultrasound, D-Heart ensures the free collection of an old ECG or an old ultrasound;

(II) the free collection of WEEE will take place within a maximum of 30 days from the date of delivery of the new product, upon contact by the specialized logistics operator;

Exclusions:
Free collection is not provided for the purchase of items not belonging to the EEE category, the details of which are shown in annexes 1 and 2 of Legislative Decree 49/2014.
The collection of WEEE which entails risks of contamination or safety by the personnel responsible for collection is not foreseen.
The collection of WEEE without essential components or that has been tampered with is not foreseen.

 

How to request free collection of WEEE

To take advantage of the collection of used electromedical devices, it is necessary, during the purchase process of the new item, to write to info@d-heartcare.com  indicating the type of electromedical device to be collected ECG or Ultrasound and copy of the purchase of the new ECG or Ultrasound purchased from the website www.d-heartcare.com .

If you purchase multiple products, you can choose the quantity of products for which you wish to use the WEEE service, which cannot be greater than the quantity of products purchased.

Example: following the purchase of 2 electro-medical devices, the customer will be able to request the collection of used electro-medical products for 1 or 2 electro-medical devices but not for 3 electro-medical devices.

 

1:1 WITHDRAWAL

The 1:1 WEEE collection service, as defined by the legislation in force, applies in cases of supply of new equivalent equipment, on a 'one for one' basis to WEEE coming from households.

Those of commercial, industrial, institutional and other types of origin (dual use), similar in nature and quantity, are also assimilated to domestic WEEE.

 

How is WEEE collected free of charge in case of home delivery?

The Customer who requests the used collection service will be contacted by the specialized logistics operator no later than 30 days following the delivery date of the new product in order to agree on the WEEE collection date. On the agreed date, or at the time of delivery of the goods, the Customer must have the used product ready for collection and collectable from the place where it is located, otherwise the collection of the WEEE will be refused.

Please note that the collection address of the equipment to be collected must coincide with the delivery address of the new equipment purchased.

 

 

Indemnity

To collect WEEE containing personal or health data of their own or of third parties, the customer must proceed independently with the cancellation of the same, thus indemnifying Strena Medical S.r.l. from any liability. in reference to the privacy legislation (Legislative Decree 196/2003).

This decree stipulated that all electrical and electronic devices that have reached the end of their life should not go into the normal municipal solid waste stream, but should follow a separate collection procedure, giving priority to the recovery and recycling of the materials of which they are composed.

Consumers can deliver their discarded electrical and electronic equipment to the public collection service, take them to the appropriate municipal areas (ecological islands), or return them to retailers. All major manufacturers are active in setting up and managing collection and disposal systems for discarded equipment.

In compliance with the provisions of DM 65/2010 art. 1, paragraph 1, and Legislative Decree 49/2014, art. 11, paragraph 1, customers are informed that when supplying a new electrical or electronic equipment (defined EEE) intended for a household, it ensures the free collection of the old electrical or electronic equipment (defined WEEE) having the same functionality.

It is clarified that:

(I) the free take-back of WEEE (1-for-1 dictated by Ministerial Decree No. 65/2010) takes place under the condition that it is derived from a household, of an equivalent type, i.e., it performed the same functions as the newly purchased equipment;

Example 1: In exchange for the purchase of a new ECG or ultrasound scanner, D-Heart ensures the free take-back of an old ECG or ultrasound scanner;

(II) the free pickup of the WEEE will take place within the maximum period of 30 days from the date of delivery of the new product, after contact by the specialized logistics operator;

Exclusions:

There is no free pickup against a purchase of items not belonging to the WEEE category, the details of which can be found in Annex 1 and 2 of Legislative Decree 49/2014.

There is no pickup of WEEE involving contamination or safety risks by pickup personnel.

WEEE without essential components or tampered with is not scheduled for pickup.

 

How to apply for free WEEE take-back

To take advantage of the take-back of used electromedical equipment, it is necessary, during the process of purchasing the new item, to write to info@d-heartcare.com indicating the type of electromedical equipment to be taken back ECG or Ultrasound and a copy of the purchase of the new ECG or Ultrasound purchased from www.d-heartcare.com.

In the case of purchasing more than one product, it is possible to choose the quantity of products for which you wish to take advantage of the WEEE service, which cannot be greater than the quantity of products purchased.

Example: against the purchase of 2 electromedical devices, the customer can request the take-back of used 1 electromedical device or 2 electromedical devices but not 3 electromedical devices.

 

1:1 TAKE-BACK

The WEEE 1:1 take-back service, as defined by the current regulations, applies in cases of supplying a new equivalent equipment on a 'one-for-one' basis to WEEE from households.

WEEE from commercial, industrial, institutional and other (dual use) sources, similar in nature and quantity, are also assimilated to household WEEE.

 

How the free WEEE pickup takes place in case of home delivery

The Customer requesting the Used Take-Back service will be contacted by the specialized logistics operator no later than 30 days after the date of delivery of the new product in order to agree on the date of collection of the WEEE.
